THESE SVP BUOYS ARE PLACED IN AREAS OF SCIENTIFIC INTEREST USING RESEARCH VESSELS, SHIPS OF OPPORTUNITY, AND U.S. NAVY VESSELS. THE DATA FROM THE DRIFTERS ARE THEN PLACED ON THE GLOBAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM (GTS) FOR DISTRIBUTION TO METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES WORLDWIDE. THIS DELIVERY ORDER PURCHASES 15.
