THIS PROJECT WILL CROSS REFERENCE AND UPDATE PAST EFFORTS BY GRS GIS ((DELIVERY ORDER D8485060022) TO PREPARE A VEGETATION CLASSIFICATION AND MAP FOR LASSEN VOLCANIC NATIONAL PARK WITH TWO ADDITIONAL EFFORTS CONDUCTED BY OTHER PARTIES. THE PROPOSED GRS EFFORTS WOULD CROSS REFERENCE PAST MAP UNITS AND VEGETATION CLASSES WITH ASSOCIATED EFFORTS BEING LED BY DRS. AYZIK SOLOMESHEH (AS) AND MICHAEL BARBOUR OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, DAVIS, AND UPDATE THE MAP TO INCORPORATE A RECENTLY COMPLETED WETLAND/RIPARIAN (WR) VEGETATION CLASSIFICATION COMPLETED BY THE KLAMATH INVENTORY AND MONITORING PROGRAM AND LASSEN VOLCANIC NATIONAL PARK. THIS PROJECT PROVIDES NECESSARY RESOURCES TO CROSS REFERENCE THESE CLASSIFICATIONS WITH THE EXISTING LAVO IMAGE CLASSIFICATION (IC) DATA SET DEVELOPED BY GRS DURING THE 2006-2008 TIME PERIOD. BASED ON PAST EFFORTS WORKING WITH DR. SOLOMESHEH AT BOTH LASSEN AND REDWOOD, GRS ESTIMATES THAT THE FOLLOWING SEQUENTIAL TASKS WOULD COMPRISE THE EFFORT NECESSARY TO CROSS REFERENCE THE TYPES AND INCORPORATE THEM INTO GRS S IC DATA SET: 1. PROGRAM THE KEY (NAMING) RULES INTO GRS'S SOFTWARE TO ASSIGN AS/WR-NVCS TYPE NAMES (40 HRS). 2. VERIFY THE VEGETATION KEY/RULES AND THRESHOLDS: A. IDENTIFICATION OF MISSING GRS SITE/MAP TYPES THAT FALL THROUGH THE KEY WITHOUT ASSIGNMENT OF AN AS/WET TYPE NAME. THIS INVOLVES RUNNING THE GRS 2006-07 FIELD TRAINING SITE (FTS) AND IMAGE CLASSIFICATION MAP DATA THROUGH THE KEY AND DETERMINING WHICH SITE/MAP DATA (GRS TYPES) ARE NOT REPRESENTED IN THE AS/WR KEY (24 HRS). B. IDENTIFY INCONSISTENTLY NAMED TYPES THAT DO NOT NAME THEMSELVES CORRECTLY, AS THEY WERE ORIGINALLY CLASSIFIED BY AS/WR. THIS INVOLVES RUNNING THE AS/WR CLASSIFICATION INFO THROUGH THE KEY AND SEEING THAT THE SUPPORTING COVER DATA WHEN PROCESSED BY THE KEY RESULT IN THE ASSIGNMENT OF THE SAME AS/WR TYPE NAME AS WAS ASSIGNED TO THE SITE BY AS/WR (24 HRS). 3. RESEARCH AND DISCUSS INCONSISTENCIES AND OMISSIONS IDENTIFIED IN STEP 2 ABOVE AND IMPLEMENT KEY/RULE CHANGES NECESSARY TO ACCOUNT FOR MISSING AND INCONSISTENT NVCS TYPES (40 HRS). 4. DEVELOP AND PRODUCE A CROSSWALK BETWEEN GRS AND AS/WR NVCS TYPE NAMES (16 HRS). 5. PROCESS THE IC AND FTS DATA SETS TO ASSIGN AS/WR TYPE NAMES TO EVERY STAND/POLYGON IN GRS CLASSIFICATION MAP AND EVERY SITE IN THE FTS DATA SETS (8 HRS). 6. GENERATE UPDATED VERSIONS OF THE GRS IC AND FTS DATA SETS THAT INCLUDE THE AS/WR TYPE INFORMATION (8 HRS). 7. PROVIDE A PROJECT REPORT THAT PRESENTS THE RESULTS OF THESE EFFORTS, AS WELL AS DESCRIBES AND DOCUMENTS INFORMATION DEVELOPED AND THE PROCEDURES AND PROCESSES THAT GRS USED DURING THIS EFFORT (40 HRS). THIS PROJECT WILL START NO EARLIER THAN AUGUST 1, 2012 AND WILL BE COMPLETED BY DECEMBER 31, 2013. THE PROJECT DELIVERABLES WILL INCLUDE: 1. AN UPDATED MAP GEODATABASE AND ANY ASSOCIATED METADATA 2. A PROJECT COMPLETION REPORT. 3. AN ORAL PRESENTATION AND DATABASE DEMONSTRATION TO ILLUSTRATE HOW TO USE THE DATABASE FOR CUSTOM MAP QUERIES.
