    BISHOP MUSEUM WILL COLLABORATE WITH HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, AN ADVISORY TEAM, AND NATIONAL AND LOCAL NASA ORGANIZATIONS TO CREATE A FORMAL AND INFORMAL STEM NETWORK FOR HAWAII. THE PRODUCTS PRODUCED WILL BE TEACHER DRIVEN, AND LOCALLY AND NATIONALLY RELEVANT. A KEY ELEMENT IN THIS PROJECT IS THE NASA STEM TEACHER COHORT, A TEAM OF SIX CURRENTLY ACTIVE ELEMENTARY DASSROOM TEACHERS WHO WILL BE HIRED FOR THE THREE YEAR DURATION OF THE PROJECT. TWO OF THE TEACHERS WILL BE BASED ON OAHU AND ONE TEACHER EACH ON KAUAI, MALI, HAWAII ISLAND, AND LNAI MOLOKAI. THE TEACHERS WILL ASSIST BISHOP MUSEUM IN THE CREATION OF NASA THEMED PROGRAMS AND EXHIBITS, SPECIFICALLY TO ENSURE THAT THOSE PRODUCTS CLOSELY MEET THE NEEDS OF ELEMENTARY STUDENTS AND TEACHERS. COHORT TEACHERS WILL ALSO DEVELOP THREE FIFTH GRADE EARTH SCIENCES STEM CURRICULA USING NASA AND BISHOP MUSEUM RESOURCES, PRESENT TEACHER WORKSHOPS BASED ON THIS CURRICULA ON THEIR HOME ISLANDS, AND DELIVER PROGRAMMING AT COMMUNITY EVENTS USING A PORTABLE DIGITAL PLANETARIUM.
